Babysitter needed - Maggie Drummond, a former Student Wife, is looking for a babysitter two days per week. Maggie is returning to work and needs care for her four-month-old baby girl. Days are either Tuesdays or Thursdays according to your availability, and Fridays. The hours would vary, but generally 7am-4pm. Contact her at 260.417.1848

An apple a day - Several wives have expressed the need of finding a good personal/family doctor in the city. If you have a recommendation, please make a comment to this post or email moodyswf@gmail.com. (Below is our first recommendation.)

Hello! I have had an incredible experience with the "Women's Practice." They are located at:

737 N. Michigan Ave.
Suite 950
Chicago, IL 60611
Phone Number: (312) 751-7515

My doctor is Mia Norlin. Over the course of my pregnancy I met with all the doctors, (except one), and liked each of them. They occasionally schedule you to have an appointment with a nurse, opposed to the doctors, but the nurses are wonderful also. Having Dr. Norlin take care of me during my pregnancy and delivery was wonderful and I can’t say enough good about the experience. The office is located above Neiman Marcus at the corner of Chicago and Michigan Ave....so it’s really close and convenient, especially if you are pregnant and visit often! Just a warning, the parking is $12.00, so walking or taking the Chicago 66 bus is a smart idea if you want to save some money!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Kitchen Needs - Janet Ellis from Moody Catering has offered to lend her extra cooking/baking supplies to Student Wives. If you need to borrow an item such as a stock pot, lasagna dish, pie dish, etc. you may email her at janet.ellis@moody.edu

Apartment Available - A note from Hannah Stuart-Walker:

We just moved to a new apartment, and our old apartment (in the Franson Risberg Mission Memorial Home) is now available – pretty much immediately! Our move came up very suddenly because we received an offer that we could not refuse, but that meant in order to get our security deposit back, there would need to be renters available to move into the apartment within the next couple of weeks. So, I wanted to get the word out to all the wives, because it has been such a blessing living in the Franson Risberg (community-wise and financially!) and would love to see this blessing passed on, and we also would really love to get that security deposit back! :)

Here is more specific info on the apartment: The building is located at the corner of Mclean and Mozart – within the Logan Square area. The apartment is a one-bedroom on the third floor. The building is well-kept. The building managers are closely connected with Moody (the husband works for Moody and the wife is attending the Moody grad school) and we have never had a problem with getting things repaired in a timely fashion.

Here is the big ticket – the price: only $460 a month!! The building is owned by a board of Christian businessmen, and originally was purchased with the intent that it would be turned into affordable housing for individuals who fit one of the following criteria: 1) Were active in full-time ministry. 2) Were training for ministry. So, that is the reason why the rent is so incredibly affordable! Utilities are included (with the exception of a land-line for a phone) and laundry is available in the basement of the building for a cost of $7 a month per person. There is a courtyard owned by the building. We truly loved living in this building (have lived there for about 3 ½ years!) and were hesitant to leave, but we were blessed with a huge open door and felt the Lord’s leading that it was time move on.
