**Meeting Cancelled**

Due to the weather, tonight's SWF meeting is cancelled.

We hope that you all are able to enjoy a night off and stay safe at home with your families.

Marriage Retreat Update...

Hello Ladies,
I'd just like to ask anyone who is going on the MSF Retreat to PLEASE contact myself or Austin stating whether you need a ride, whether you have a ride and if you have a ride, if you could drive others and how many places you would have for them.

Thank you so much! We have been, almost to the point of harassment, lol, on this and we haven't got many responses. So please, if you have extra room, we still have couples and sitters that need rides. It is already only 2 days away, and they don't have rides yet. Thanks girls!

(I'm sorry, but with the winter weather and smack in the midst of a semester, don't you just want to be the couple in the picture right now. --Lindsey)

Prayer request from Karis Jorden...

Dear friends,

Ben and I had our car broken into yesterday while we were downtown
running an errand for a friend. We had a low-end GPS stolen, but
nothing else was touched. The funny thing is, they grabbed Ben's phone
charger and not the charger for the GPS! To make matters worse, the
transmission in the car stopped working completely after that. We
managed to get the car into the garage on campus, but then the car
would not budge out of its space. This vehicle has been a huge
blessing for us as it's a ministry vehicle we've been allowed to drive
for a little over a year now. However, it's pretty old and probably
not worth fixing. Currently we are in Peoria, IL, where we are picking
up a car from Ben's older brother to borrow until we can decide what
to do next. Please pray with us that everything will work out for
God's glory and in a cost-efficient way. :) Thanks so much for your
prayers! I'll see you all at SWF tonight.

Good Plant Needs Home...

I have an orchid plant that I am killing. Once upon a time it was lovely but now it’s starting to die and I just don’t have the skills to save it. The leaves are still green so I think there is hope. Is anyone interested in trying to save it? If so, it’s yours – free!

A Fun Recipe From Kelly Lillpop...

These tootsie rolls are fun to make by yourself, with your kids, or your spouse!

In a large mixing bowl, combine the following:

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups powdered sugar
3/4 cup instant powdered milk
1/2 cup white corn syrup
2 tbs. vegetable oil
1 tsp. artificial vanilla extract

It’s easiest to stir and then knead the mixture with your hands until all the ingredients are mixed in.

Makes about one softball sized ball of tootsie roll.

Full-Time Nanny Position

From Hannah Stuart-Walker: My supervisor here in CSC has some friends who are looking for someone to watch their little girl - it would be a paid position - and he asked me if I knew of anyone in Student Wives that was looking for additional income.

We are a married, Christian couple living in Lincoln Park seeking daily in-home care for our four-month-old daughter from approximately 8:15 am to 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday, but some flexibility is appreciated. We can offer $1200 a month, paid by check twice a month. The position is available immediately, and will last until our daughter is offered a spot at the local day care where she is currently on the waiting list, or until mid-June at the latest. If interested, please call 773-348-8922 to arrange an in-person conversation.

Teresa got a very special Christmas Gift...

Thanks to everyone who prayed for our time this Christmas with Thomas’ extended family! We celebrated with them on the 19th of Dec and it was a wonderful time. Usually about 35 family members get together just for food and a fun gift exchange, but this year we were able to add a time of worship into the mix and it was great! We sang a few Carols together and 4 different passages of scripture related to Christmas were read. I was so nervous that there would be a very negative response from those that are not believers, but on the contrary all but one willingly participated. Towards the end, I was able to share a brief testimony about Jesus being God’s Christmas gift to us and described ways in which that has been the greatest gift ever for me. I could tell that some of the unsaved cousins were really thinking about it! Praise the Lord! It was the highlight of my Christmas this year! I wish I could share pics with you, but I have none. Thomas video taped parts, but that was all.

The second greatest part of Christmas was Thomas’ gift to me. When we moved to Chicago, we had to adopt out my dog and we were not able to get her back when we moved into the house. Well, Thomas got me a puppy J isn’t she cute??
She’s the same breed as my first dog (Australian Shepherd) and we’ve named her Orli (it’s Hebrew). I think I can now relate a little bit to some of the new moms because I only get to sleep a couple of hours at a time before she needs to go out to the bathroom. Needless to say, I’ll tired - - - but SO glad to have her!

Well, I’m excited to see everyone again on the 17th!

That seems like a long way off . . . . so in the meantime, how was your Christmas???

Get ready.....

Get ready....the spring semester is about to begin.

Our first meeting will be held Thursday, January 17, same time (6 p.m.), same place (the Kimball Room).

Carol Harding will be joining us this semester as our teacher, focusing on the nature of discipleship and the foundational principles of the spiritual life.

We will examine the nature and obligations of the spiritual life and the principles and practices that nurture it.

We will also explore the relationship between grace and effort in spiritual development.

This semester is an opportunity to study the disciplines of the spiritual life together with the goal of developing lifelong patterns and practices that will shape and form us as women, wives and mothers.

For some of us, this may be the semester to share a testimony or lessons from a spiritual discipline you have begun in your life. Please contact Danica - danica.allen@moody.edu - if you are interested.

I have a 32" tube television and a dvd player as well as an Entertainment Center that I would love to give to anyone who would like/need one. We are "upgrading" ours (of course my hubby thinks we need a bigger one) but we didn't want to just throw the other one away if anyone would want it! If you are interested write me back ASAP because I need to get the old one out to move in the new one.

Can't wait to see you all at SWF!
