Selah Massage Therapy

Does your busy life and stressful schedule leave you exhausted, weary and in physical pain? Do you wish you could just have one hour to unwind, relax and get the tension worked out of your neck and shoulders? Do you consider massage to be an unaffordable luxury? If your answer to all these questions is “Yes!” then Selah Massage Therapy is here for you!

My name is Ruth Chase and I am a married student here at Moody. My husband and I just transferred this semester from New Tribes Bible Institute in Wisconsin. While in Wisconsin, I also went to school for Massage Therapy. I am fully licensed and insured in the state of Illinois, as well as nationally certified.

I have an extra room in our apartment in Andersonville, Chicago where I have my massage table, lotions, hot towels, hot stones and ear candles. My prayer and desire is for this room to be a place of blessing and renewal for women who carry so much stress in their physical bodies. As such, I am only charging what I need to cover my expenses and needs. My hourly rate for a massage is only$45.00 (which is significantly less than the going rate in Chicago of $75.00)!

I specialize in deep tissue/trigger-point therapy work, along with pre and post natal care, hot stones, relaxation (Swedish), ear candling , PNF stretching, neck and shoulder problems, and chronic pain (i.e., fibromyalgia).

I would love to be a blessing to you, so give me a call today!

Part-time Nanny Needed

Contact Hope at xiwangirl@hotmail.com

We (Ragne Jordan family) are looking for a nanny three days a week for our 14 month old daughter. We are a family of three and live in Lakeview, near Belmont and Halsted. Emma loves to be outside walking around and playing with other kids. She likes to dance to music and tells us what she wants by signs and babble. I work part-time downtown and Adam, Emma's dad works in Skokie.

We are looking for a caring, patient individual that can plan activities for Emma and keep her safe and clean. The position would require the following:
going to the playground/ park every day,
preparing meals for Emma,
doing dishes,
changing diapers and keeping her clean,
doing her laundry once every two weeks or as needed,
planning play activities,
communicating how Emma's day was,
caring for visiting friends (within defined limits),
Set Hours:
Monday: 7:30 AM-5:45 PM
Wednesday: 7:30 AM-5:45 PM
Thursday: 7:30 AM-1:30 PM
(26 hours weekly)

Extra hours and days as mutually agreed upon. There is a possibility for an increased schedule. We can discuss that further on the phone.

Most of all we are looking for an individual that have good chemistry with Emma and is able to create a positive environment for her.

If this sounds like it may be a fit for you, please contact me by email. If possible I would like to talk with you Monday or Tuesday October 26, or 27, 2009) night after 7:30 PM.

Free Vehicle

We have recently been contacted by someone who desires to give his 1992 7 passenger Dodge Caravan, with just under 100,000 miles, to a student who needs a vehicle here at Moody. He will not be giving it to Moody, but straight to the student. I called Diannalee Hart to inquire about the possibility of sending a mass e-mail, but she suggested that I contact you first to see if a married student might need it.

My understanding is that the vehicle runs fine, but I don’t know too much else about the condition. It is located in Muskegon, MI, and would need to be picked up.

Contact information: Stephen Kott at skott@moody.edu if they are interested.

A goodbye...

Dear Friends,
Due to a new season of life, I’m not able to continue involvement with Student Wives this semester. I will so miss each one of you. I remember the first time I came to Student Wives almost three years ago. As a new bride I had so many expectations and insecurities about what life at Moody would be like. Despite my anxiety, God has done some wonderful things above beyond what I’ve imagined. It sounds trite, but it’s true – it hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it.

I pray that Student Wives has a phenomenal spring semester. It sounds like the leadership team has some excellent speakers and activities lined up. In fact, I’ll still be working at Moody so I may drop in for a few. I will also continue working with the blog until Hannah Stuart-Walker takes over at the end of January. You will still be able to email moodyswf@gmail.com with any prayer requests and announcements you may have.

I hope that each circumstance at Moody grows your faith in some way. May God allow you to grow roots during your short time here, regardless of what lies ahead.

With Love,
Lindsey Sherrod
Below is the description of an internship opportunity that I wanted to pass on. Tabita Sherfinski, the contact person, is a friend of a friend, and she asked my husband and me to help her out by getting the word out—this is about a PAID internship at Chicago Public Schools!

If you do end up contacting her, please e-mail me just so we know we were able to connect her with an interested party (heidi.k.turkalj@moody.edu). Thanks!

Heidi Turkalj
