Coupon Tips

Trying to stay on a budget for groceries and household items? Most married couples are. Find out from our resident coupon expert, Mimi Bell, how to use coupons to the fullest!

Here are some of the most important tips on couponing:

1) Pick 1 or 2 stores that you find have the best coupon programs/prices and STICK with those.
*You can drive yourself crazy going from store to store to try and find the best deals.

2) Sale items cycle every three months (sometimes sooner).
*So if an item is on sale, and you have a coupon or two, stock up. Ideally, by the next time you need this product, it will be on sale and you will have a coupon again. (B/c of our small apartment space, I don't stock up like the "extreme couponer" ladies... I usually just buy a few extra.)

3) Most stores will allow you to "stack" coupons.
*This means that even if an item is on sale, you can use one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon. A lot of times, this significantly reduces the price of an item.

4) At the end of your transaction, after your receipt has printed, ALWAYS review the prices of each individual item you purchased.
*If you have done your pre-shopping planning this shouldn't take more than a couple minutes and 9/10 times I get a little chunk of money back. Just take your receipt up to the customer service desk and, politely, inform them that a few of your items rang up at the wrong price. At Dominicks, they are usually very accommodating with this... I can't speak for any other store but most have a policy about items ringing up wrong- some will even refund the whole price of an item!

Missions Week at Moody

This is beautiful fall weather and a wonderful time to get outside with your husband before Chicago winter comes! Also, please feel free to attend some of the amazing events offered this year through Moody's annual Missions Week Conference. Even if you are not a student, you are able to attend with your spouse.

Check out the event online at: http://www.moodyministries.net/crp_EventDetail.aspx?id=7664.

Because we want to allow everyone to take advantage of the guest speakers and activities during this week, Student Wives Fellowship WILL NOT be meeting on Thursday, October 13.

We will begin our regular weekly meetings on Thursday, October 20. See you then!
