Last Meeting of the Year!

Hello lovely ladies!

I can't believe how fast this year has gone by, can you? So much has happened in our lives this year, and I'm sure a lot has happened in yours! God is so faithful, though, and it's comforting to remember that He remains constant amid our whirlwind lives. :0)

So, last meeting before break this Thursday at 5:30 in the Kimball room! We will be meeting in our small groups, and will also have a time of recognition for any seniors graduating this semester. Hope you can come! As always, we will go to dinner at 5:30, and there will be free childcare available.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night! If you aren't able to come, have a safe and happy Christmas, and a wonderful New Year! We'll see you in 2011!

Mission Home is Advertising Apartments

Heidi Hoste and her husband manage the Franson Risberg Memorial Mission Home. The vision of the home is to help house missionaries, people in full time ministry in Chicago, or students attending christian school with intent of going into full time ministry. The apartments are cheap. They have some possible one bedrooms opening in December. Anyone interested can call Heidi at 773-772-4348. There is an application process, and you can fill it out and send it in an email, or just call Heidi.

Gary Chapman and Small Groups

Gary Chapman will be at Moody on Thursday, November 11th! This happens to be the same day we have small groups scheduled. We don't want you to miss this opportunity, so here's the plan. SWF ladies will still meet at 5:30 and eat dinner together like we normally do. Then, around 6:45 or so when we break up for Small Groups, we'll give you the option as a group to either meet together as usual, or go up together to hear Gary Chapman speak. Mr. Chapman will begin at 7:00 pm in Joe's (ASC2) and will present his book Things I Wish I’d Known Before We Got Married in a talk titled And the Two Shall Become One. Refreshments will be provided prior to the talk at 6:45 pm. A question and answer time with Dr. Chapman will follow. I believe the session will end at 9:00.

This Week At Student Wives!

We had a wonderful first meeting last Thursday with Elizabeth Smith! Thanks to all who came... it was wonderful getting to know you a bit more. We're looking forward to all that God has in store for us together!

This week
(september 9th), we have the privilege of hearing John and Linda Jelinek speak to us. They will be doing a review on the book by Tim and Joy Downs, Fight Fair: Winning at Conflict Without Losing At Love. This book, as well as the book One of Us Must Crazy & I'm Pretty Sure It's You (also by the same authors), will be available for purchase at our meeting Thursday evening. The cost for these wonderful resources will be $4.50 each, or $8.00 for both.

Another note about this week's meeting: husbands are invited to join us for dessert and the discussion with the Jelineks! Wives will still be meeting downstairs at the Kimball room at 5:30, and will grab a bite to eat in the Student Dining Room (just like last time). Please encourage your husbands to eat dinner together, too, and then come down to join us in the Kimball room around 6:15 or 6:30. There will still be childcare provided. ;0)

See you there!

Babysitting Job!

Hi girls!
We are in the process of trying to find a couple of 'somewhat permanent' sitters for our new Mom's group, which begins officially on Wednesday, September 8th.

We have one sitter secured, who is the wife of someone at Moody, but need to find a second (thanks, Bekah!).

Here are the details of our needs:

- 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
- Pay is $35
- Commitment is ideally for a year or so, but we can be flexible OR if you are interested in being a substitute or on a day that we need an extra sitter, let me know!
- Oversee a bunch of munchkins 3 1/2 and younger for a couple of hours
- Location is off the Armitage brownline (3 blocks or so)

If you could forward this to your sitters or people you know who may be interested and have them e-mail me back, I would REALLY appreciate it!

Thank you guys!

To kick start this new semester, SWF is hosting an ice cream social! This will be a fun time to enjoy some sweet treats with our husbands and families, and will give you a chance to find out more about what we do at SWF. We will be meeting on the second floor of the Alumni Student Center starting at 7:00 pm THIS THURSDAY (August 26th). We look forward to seeing you there!
